Andy Gramont was the 100-yard breaststroke champion at the Lincoln-Way East Sectional last year.
What was it like to qualify for the state meet last season for the first time?
It was pretty exciting. It definitely motivated me to swim over the summer and this year.
Do you have a leadership role this season?
I definitely feel it’s my duty now to help lead the team and motivate the younger swimmers, the underclassmen.
What do you want East to accomplish this season?
I’d like us to strive for a sectional victory and to get as many people to qualify for state as possible.
What about a college choice?
I’m not sure yet. I’m waiting to get some contact from coaches possibly because I do want to continue to compete in swimming.
What do you do for leisure activity?
I like going bowling and hanging out with friends, going to movies.
Favorite sports team?
Definitely the Bears. My whole life me and my dad always have watched the Bears.
I listen to a lot of country music.
Most embarrassing sports moment?
About two years ago, my team for Lincoln-Way Swim Association, we were behind our blocks for our relay and we missed it. We didn’t actually swim our relay. That was pretty embarrassing.
Favorite swimmer from the Olympics?
Michael Phelps. Just unbelievable. I’m pretty sure no one will be able to do that ever again.
What will you remember the most about your high school years?
All the friends that I’ve made through swimming on the team.
