The Electric Daisy Carnival, an electronic dance music event that is reported to have drawn more than 200,000 at times, is coming to Joliet in May.
The event will be May 24-26 at Chicagoland Speedway.
It will be the first time in the Chicago region for the Electric Daisy Carnival, a traveling event that includes stops in New York, Puerto Rico, Orlando and Las Vegas, according to Insomniac, the company that produces the festival.
Insomniac Chief Executive Officer Pasquale Rotella said in a written announcement, “This is the first Electric Daisy Carnival that will offer fans the opportunity to camp while enjoying the festival, and I know that the Chicagoland Speedway is the ideal location.”
Pat Kenny, manager of communications at Chicagoland Speedway, said the track is being rented for the event.
“It’s not our event,” Kenny said. “Hopefully, it’s good for the area, and it works out great. It has a huge following.”
A Las Vegas Sun article in June about the Electric Daisy Festival in that city reported attendance of 115,000. The same article reported that attendance for the 2010 festival in Los Angeles was 185,000 and about twice that in 2009.
Tickets for Electric Daisy Carnival in Joliet go on sale Wednesday.
Three-day general admission tickets to the event cost $175. VIP tickets are $299 before service fees. Insomniac also offers a camping/festival package priced at $295 for general admission and $419 for VIP tickets.
