Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox recently hosted its fall College Signing Day in the Knights Round Table Hall.

Three Central student-athletes participated in the National Letter of Intent ceremony: Danijela Jackovich, Michelle Kriegshauser, and Gabrielle Boerema.

Jackovich will play water polo for Stanford University. Her parents are Daniel and Desa Jackovich, from New Lenox. Her water polo coach is Karen Desruisseaux.

“This is my dream school,” she said. “I am very excited.”

She wants to major in biomedical engineering.

Kriegshauser will play softball for Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti next year. Her parents are David and Debra Kriegshauser, from New Lenox. Her softball coach is Jeff Tarala. Kriegshauser is undecided about a major.

“It’s an honor to be selected to play softball at Eastern Michigan,” she said. “When I visited the university, it just felt right for me.”

Boerema will play softball for Rockhurst University in Kansas City. Her softball coach is Jeff Tarala. She will major in physiology. Her parents are Christopher and Donna Boerema, of Manhattan.

“When I was on campus, I fell in love with the school,” she said. “I also loved Kansas City. When I met my coach, he was so helpful and nice.”

“Congratulations to all of the parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts, and uncles in attendance today,” Lincoln-Way Central athletic director Hud Venerable said. “We thank you for the many sacrifices you made helping your children achieve excellence academically and athletically. I wish to thank your coaches for their outstanding leadership and support of these student-athletes.”
