Frankfort Community Consolidated School District 157C will host a Creative Arts Showcase from 5 to 7:30 p.m. March 8 at Grand Prairie Elementary School, 10480 W. Nebraska St., Frankfort.

The showcase will feature original artwork of visual arts, performing arts and literature students.

As a special activity, students will draw, paint, sculpt or photograph their favorite feature in Frankfort, with the results to be featured in a book, “Frankfort Favorites.”

All book entries will be displayed at the art show, and guests will be able to vote for their favorite. People’s choice winners will be featured in the main section of the book, but all entries will be included.

The book will be sold for $10 and the art will appear on the Family School Partnership Facebook page.

The showcase also will feature student art displays, hands-on art activities, professional artist demonstrations and performances. Special attractions include a spin art machine, cake decorating, live jazz, pottery and recycled art.

Frankfort students can download an art submission form for the showcase or the book project from the “virtual backpack” section of the district’s website, www.fsd157c.org. Projects must be turned in by March 6.

For more information, or to volunteer, email Taressa Leonardo at Steakhouse20857@aol.com.

The event is sponsored by the Family School Partnership Organization.
