Citizens Police Academy planned for Lincoln-Way area

Police departments in the Lincoln-Way area will host a 12-week Citizens Police Academy beginning March 7 at Lincoln-Way Central High School, 1801 W. Lincoln Highway, New Lenox Township.
The academy is designed to inform the public about how the police and criminal justice systems function.
Attendees will learn about the behind-the-scenes operations of police calls, investigations, traffic stops and more. The program also will include a tour of the Will County Jail and a Taser demonstration.
Academy sessions will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays beginning March 7. Space is limited. To apply, visit www.newlenox.net, www.frankfortpolice.net or www.willcosheriff.org.
The New Lenox, Frankfort and Manhattan police departments and the Will County Sheriff’s office are sponsoring the academy.
