The New Lenox School District 122 Foundation’s “Principal for a Day” fundraiser raised about $3,200 in the event’s second year.
All District 122 students were given the opportunity to submit an entry. Each student received one free chance and was able to buy additional chances.
The majority of the funding will support a teacher’s grant program being launched this month. The program allows District 122 staff to submit project ideas for the 2013-14 school year for approval and funding by the foundation.
Winners of the “Principal for a Day” contest were Michael Myette, principal, and Caitlyn Parrish, assistant principal, at Bentley
Elementary; Claire Thormeyer and Noah Fyke, at Cherry Hill Elementary; Arantxa Arredondo, at Liberty Junior High; Taylor Harris, at Martino Junior High; Omar Abushaqra, at Nelson Prairie Elementary; Isabella Clutter, at Nelson Ridge Elementary; Justin Frederiksen, at Oster-Oakview Elementary;
Nolan Barrett, at Spencer Crossing Elementary; Claire Cahill, at Spencer Pointe Elementary; Tatum Carter and Aidan DeCarlo, at Spencer Trail Kindergarten Center; Bruno Butkus, at Tyler Elementary; and Nick Evans, at Haines Elementary.
