As the boys volleyball players from the Ultimate Volleyball Club in Frankfort head into their high school volleyball season, they leave behind a trail of fallen opponents and move forward as better, more experienced athletes.
In a season of unprecedented success, Ultimate dominated in every tournament and league from November through February, culminating with 17 teams slated to attend national championships.
Winning the Palos Court Series in the 18U division, Ultimate players Sanil Thomas and Robby Hoffman were named Best Attacker and Best Libero, respectively.
Next, at the Great Lakes Center Invitational, Ultimate 18 Gold and 17 Gold finished first and second, respectively, each team having dominated both sides of the Gold bracket to earn the right to face off against each other in the championship.
Later in a series of tournaments in which teams vie to win a bid to the National Championships, Ultimate teams won more bids than any other club in the Midwest, winning three of five divisions at the Wisconsin Boys Festival and clinching titles at the Nittany Ninvitational in the 17’s and 18’s divisions while the 16 Gold team, sole 16s team in the 17 Open Division, fared extremely well, finishing ffith out of 40 teams.
Ultimate earned three other Open bids at the Great Lakes Festival in January for the 18 Gold, 17 Gold and 16 gold teams.
The club has a total of seven teams set to compete in the Junior National Championships and 10 to compete at the USAV Championships in the two divisions in Reno, Nev. this summer.
