The New Lenox School District 122 Foundation recently announced the recipients of its first E3 Teacher Grant Program.
In order to be eligible for the grants, proposals had to satisfy the “enhancement, enrichment or essentials” criteria.
The E3 funds are being used to purchase 200 Apple TVs and to fund the Scholastic Art Magazine.
Apple TVs will be distributed to approximately 200 classrooms on a district-wide basis. The technology encourages more teacher mobility and interaction with students through wireless instruction. Teachers are able to do a number of interactive learning tasks, such as showing PowerPoint presentations, videos and websites, and editing documents collectively. The grant satisfied the need to enrich the learning experience through technology.
The Scholastic Art Magazine will be distributed and shared district-wide to all fourth, fifth and sixth grade art classes. The magazines will reach approximately 2,000 students. The periodical gives students a source of art history information, exposure to various forms of art, student work and ideas for studio projects.
The support of the school board, administrators and generous business and individual sponsors in New Lenox made the funding possible, according to a foundation spokesman.
The foundation’s premier fundraising event, “Celebrating the Stars of Tomorrow,” will be Sept. 7 at the New Lenox VFW.
