The Lincoln-Way High School Music Boosters will conduct their 28th annual discount book sale involving 500 music students from the district’s four high schools and adult volunteers soliciting in neighborhoods from noon to 5 p.m. on the weekends of Aug. 18 and Aug. 25.
The Central Marching Knights, East Marching Griffins, North Marching Phoenix and West Marching Warriors will sell the discount books door to door in their summer uniforms along with students in the choral and orchestra programs.
The book is $15. It will be valid Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, 2014.
“We are very excited to be continuing the proud tradition and we are currently soliciting and contracting with Lincoln-Way businesses for the upcoming year’s book,” Tom Delegatto, district chairman, said.
Delegatto said a customer who purchases a book will receive two cutout cards for discounts from Lincoln-Way businesses.
“The book is unique,” Delegatto said. “The heart of the book is the repeatable discount, good for a full year. Each member business designs and offers a discount or a give-away which their patrons can exercise each time and every time they make a purchase or use the service of the merchant. Last year, we sold approximately 7,000 books.”
Proceeds from the sale are used to purchase new equipment and to cover travel costs for the bands and music groups. The funds also help pay for costumes, props, equipment and awards. The proceeds from the fundraiser are split equally among the music departments at each school, officials said.
