Will County board member Margo McDermed plans to run in 2015 for the legislative seat now held by state Rep. Renee Kosel (R-New Lenox).

McDermed’s announcement comes the day after Kosel announced her retirement at the end of her current term.

“The reason I am running for the state House is to take my life experience as a manager and negotiator for 30 years in the business world and apply it to break the dysfunction in Springfield. We need to get the state working again so jobs will start flowing into Illinois rather than out,” said McDermed, a Frankfort resident.

Before winning her county board seat in the last election, McDermed, a Republican, served as Frankfort Township clerk.
