Joliet man dies in bicycle fall

A Joliet man died in a fall from his bicycle Saturday while riding in a forest preserve.

James F. Lorenc, 68, lost control of the bicycle while in the Hickory Creek Barrens Nature Preserve in New Lenox, according to a statement from the Will County Coroner’s office. He fell to the ground and struck his head.

Lorenc was taken to Silver Cross Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:42 p.m. Forest preserve police are investigating the incident.
