The Mokena Woman’s Club, a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Illinois, is offering scholarships to Mokena students pursuing higher education, according to a press release from the organization.
Applications are available at Lincoln-Way East High School, Providence High School and the Mokena Public Library.
Students must provide a letter stating their qualifications, goals in life, the college which they wish to attend, and reasons for applying for the scholarship. A high school transcript and the application also are required. The student must live in Mokena School District 159.
The deadline is March 15. Applications and further inquiries should be mailed to Eleanore Stewart, 20819 Briarwood Lane, Mokena, IL 60448.
Woman’s Club meeting
The Mokena Woman’s Club will meet Feb. 10 at the Mokena Public Library, 11327 W. 195th St.
Local women are invited to join the club to learn more about the club and its outreach programs for supporting the community.
A social period begins at 6:30 p.m., with refreshments, and the meeting is to begin at 7 p.m.
The club is honoring four local organizations for their efforts to support the community.
