Winter on the Green starts Jan. 8

The 17th annual “Winter on the Green” festivities begin Jan. 8 in downtown Frankfort.
Special events sponsored by the village, the park district and the chamber of commerce will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on six consecutive Sundays through Feb. 12 at Breidert Green, White and Kansas streets.
Events include:
Jan. 8: “Ice Fest,” with ice sculpture displays and demonstrations and heated trolley rides through the downtown historic district.
Jan. 15: “Winter Carnival,” featuring, music, carnival games and balloon animals.
Jan. 22: A day of winter sports for the family, including sled races, 3-on-3 hockey and a punt-and-pass contest. Prizes will be awarded.
Jan. 29: “Chili Cook-Off” where residents can cook as well as sample. To enter a recipe, visit the chamber website at www.frankfortchamber.com or get an entry form at village hall, 432 W. Nebraska St.
