Matt Davis, a graduate of St. Marty’s Catholic School in Mokena, grew up playing for the St. Jude Knights.

The senior defenseman with Providence hockey has helped the Celtics to a 1-0 series lead against Fenwick in their best-of-3 Kennedy Cup quarterfinal.

Game 2 is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sunday at The Edge in Bensenville.

Which team do you want to play most for the Kennedy Cup championship?

St. Rita. They’re going for a five-peat, and it would be sweet to stop them.

What’s the best part of being a hockey player at Providence?

The girls. Most of the girls like hockey players.

If you could have your pick, what celebrity would you choose as your prom date?

Megan Fox or Kelly Clarkson when she was on “American Idol.”

Given the chance, what person, dead or alive, would you most like to meet?

My grandma Davis. She passed away when I was 5.

You’re on a deserted island. You could have an endless supply of one food. What would it be?

Chipotle’s chicken bowl.

What would you do to help get the Blackhawks out of their nine-game losing streak?

Stop playing (Brent) Seabrook. I never thought he was a good defenseman.

What would it mean to you winning the Kennedy Cup?

It would be the biggest accomplishment of my life.

What’s in your iPod?

A lot of Kelly Clarkson and Blink-182.

Ten years from now, when you’re talking about coach Nick Ianciancio, what’s the first thing that will come to mind?

The trainer moment when I was on the ice. It’s an inside joke and he’ll remember it.

As told to Pat Disabato
