Homewood burglars caught in act

Four men were charged with burglary after police saw them emerging from a house Feb. 14 in the 17600 block of Briar Avenue and found that a rear door had been kicked open, police said.

Police were conducting surveillance in the Governor’s Park neighborhood after a series of home burglaries recently. Charged were Rasheen Box, 20, 16328 Laflin Ave., Markham; Terrell Smith, 19, 23008 Lakeshore Drive, Richton Park; Montel Hayes, 19, 16128 Ashland Ave., Markham; and Jeremiah Farmer, 19, 14414 Eggleston Ave., Riverdale, police said.

They said Box, Smith and Farmer were also charged with a second count of residential burglary in connection with a Feb. 2 break-in in the 17600 block of Roosevelt Avenue.
