Homewood taps new village clerk

Updated: August 12, 2012 6:18AM

Karen Washington officially replaced Gayle Campbell as Homewood village clerk on Tuesday night, as the board voted unanimously to accept Campbell’s resignation.

Trustee Ray Robertson was absent.

Washington is to fill the spot for the rest of Campbell’s term, which runs through the spring 2013 election.

Campbell has a lengthy record of volunteering in the community. She was honored last year as the alumnus of the year by St. Joseph School in Homewood, and also has been a court advocate for Haymarket House in Chicago, which helps people suffering with an alcohol or drug addiction.
