Child care teachers at Bremen High School District 228 recently participated in training sessions to become CPR and first aid instructors.
Marcia Bosma, of Training Concepts in South Holland provided the program, which included a full day of physical training and seven hours of online training. The teachers then returned to their home schools and began training students in all available Child Care II classes.
Hillcrest High School does not have a section of Child Care II, but teacher Ashley Gerber was trained in hopes that there will be enough students interested in taking the class at Hillcrest next year to run the program and certify students.
“The training, paid with grant dollars, will now allow the district to make CPR and first aid an official part of the Child Care II curriculum,” district officials said in a news release.
Students celebrated their successes and received certificates of completion and CPR cards.
