Mooring is one of the area’s finest pure shooters, averaging approximately 18 points per game and converting 78 percent of his free-throw attempts. The 6-foot-1 Country Club Hills resident hasn’t decided on a college yet, though Akron and Miami (Ohio) have showed the most interest.

What’s your go-to move in a game of H-O-R-S-E?

The step-back three-pointer.

If you could select any high school player in the state to play a game of one-on-one, who would it be?

Jaylen Tate, from Simeon. I’d like to show him who the best guard in the state really is.

Ten years from now, when you’re thinking about coach Don Houston, what’s the first thing that will come to mind?

A father figure. He doesn’t let you do anything that messes you up and that prevents you from being successful in life.

If you had your pick, what celebrity would you choose as your prom date?

LaLa. Carmelo Anthony’s wife.

What’s in your iPod?

Mostly hip-hop. Chief Keef, Kendrick Lamar.

You’re stranded on a deserted island. You could have an endless supply of one food. What would it be?

Steak.

Given the chance, what person, dead or alive, would you most like to meet? Why?

LeBron (James). What he went through growing up — a rough childhood — I can relate to.

State title game. You’re in it. What team do you want to beat for the championship? Why?

Peoria Central. That’s the team that we lost to last year.

You’re ruler of the sports world for a day. What do you change?

I’d make the three-point shot the five-point shot.

As told to Pat Disabato
