The Cancer Support Center’s Walk of Hope and 5K Fun Run, sponsored by Cancer Treatment Centers of America and Vantage Oncology, will be held May 19 at Commissioner’s Park, 22108 S. 80th Ave., Frankfort.

The Walk of Hope raises funds and awareness to provide free programs for individuals and families affected by cancer. The pledge goal is $100 per walker. The top fundraiser at the event will receive a free iPad.

The Cancer Support Center provides comprehensive resources through the generosity of individuals and organizations to help people improve their quality of life during the cancer experience. All programs are facilitated by experienced clinical professionals, and services are provided at no charge to anyone affected by cancer.

About 115 people visit the Homewood and Mokena Cancer Support Center offices each month.

The Center has had more than 8,000 visits and has given 206 wigs to women with hair loss due to chemotherapy.

Cancer Support Center programs are facilitated at several hospitals and cancer centers in the Southland.

The registration fee for Walk of Hope is $25 for age 15 and older, $15 for ages 5 to 14, and free for children age 4 and younger.
