H-F area League of Women Voters hosts climate change program

The League of Women Voters of the Homewood-Flossmoor Area will host “Climate Change: The Earth Calls to Us,” a program by Richard Treptow, at 7 p.m. April 24 at the Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway.

Treptow is an environmentalist and retired chemistry professor from Chicago State University. He will present a slideshow and lead a discussion on the causes, consequences and cures of climate change. Treptow is a member of the Union of Concerned Scientists and a lobbyist for the Sierra Club Illinois Chapter.

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
