MVCC offers extensive list of summer classes

Moraine Valley Community College will offer weekend classes, summer classes at three campuses, and online and Internet hybrid classes during the summer semester, which starts with a three-week pre-session beginning the week of May 20.
The eight- and first four-week sessions begin the week of June 10, and the second four-week session begins the week of July 8.
Friday-only classes include Orientation to IT Professions and Mechanical Universe I, beginning June 14 for four weeks; Mechanical Universe II, beginning July 12 for four weeks; Chemistry (University Oriented) II, beginning June 14 for eight weeks, and College: Changes, Challenges, Choices, beginning May 24 for three weeks.
Saturday-only classes include Medical Transcription Clinical Practicum, beginning June 15 for seven weeks; Medical Terminology, beginning May 25 for 10 weeks; Orientation to IT Professions, beginning June 15 for four weeks; Ethics, beginning May 25 for five weeks; State and Local Government, beginning June 30 for five weeks; Basic Ornamental Welding, beginning June 15 for seven weeks. All classes are held at the main campus, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills.
Nutrition for Today and Medical Terminology both begin May 25 for 10 weeks at the Moraine Valley Education Center, 12940 S. Western Ave., Blue Island.
Speech Fundamentals begins May 25 for 10 weeks; Keyboarding I begins June 15 for seven weeks, and Introduction to Psychology begins May 25 for 10 weeks at the Southwest Education Center, 17900 S. 94th Ave., Tinley Park.
Other weekend classes include a Sunday class in Ethics, beginning May 26 for five weeks; Friday, Saturday and Sunday classes in American National Government, beginning June 14 for three weeks; Introduction to Psychology, beginning May 31 for three weeks and June 14 for three weeks; First Aid, beginning June 7 for three weeks; Life-Span Developmental Psychology, beginning July 12 for three weeks; Child Psychology, beginning May 24 for three weeks; and General Sociology, beginning July 12 for three weeks.
The college will offer more than 30 classes this summer at both its Tinley Park and Blue Island locations.
Some credit classes include Composition I and II, Art Appreciation, Introduction to Psychology, Medical Terminology, General Sociology, Introduction to Earth Science, and Beginning Algebra.
There also are several noncredit classes offered at Tinley Park, including 50 Plus Computer Basics, 50 Plus Computer Basics Cont., Active for Life, Food for Life, Positive Thinking for Life, Hearing Aid Selection, It’s Too Loud!!! and Walking Meditation for Life. Three noncredit classes are offered in Blue Island: 50 Plus Computer Basics, 50 Plus Computer Basics Cont., and Computer Skills (Spanish).
Online and Internet hybrid learning for college credit summer classes include Western Civilization I and II, Composition I and II, Cultural Geography, Intermediate Algebra, American National Government, General Sociology, World Religions, and Medical Terminology.
