Diversity Inc.’s 18th annual dinner, celebrating the multicultural communities of Chicago’s Southland, will take place at 6 p.m. Oct. 2 at Glenwoodie Golf Club, 19301 State St., Glenwood.

Jim Gigliotti, president of the Diversity Inc. board and representative of the city of Calumet City, said the focus of the annual celebration in 2013 will be women in leadership.

Diversity Inc. will honor women who share a vision of a multicultural region that is economically prosperous and provides great opportunity, the best educational systems and the highest quality of life.

For more than 25 years Diversity Inc., an intergovernmental organization, has been contributing to the region’s much-valued multicultural character, working in collaboration with the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association, the Center for Multicultural Communities, the South Suburban Housing Center, the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and others in enhancing the region’s diversity, vitality and viability.

Reservations can be made with Barbara McKinley at (708) 922-4603.

The honorees for the event include U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly (D-2nd); state Sen. Toi Hutchinson (D-Ill.); Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle; several mayors; presidents from Governors State University, Prairie State College and Moraine Valley Community College; and state Rep.
