Hillcrest High School chemistry students learned hands-on about the significance of electrons in atoms.
While observing the color that is emitted from each type of element heated, students were able to further their understanding of the concepts of excited and grounded electrons, the electromagnetic spectrum and the spectra that is characteristic of each element.
Students practiced their best safety guidelines and enjoyed applying their newfound knowledge to understanding how the chemical composition of fireworks emits colors.
