The Parade of Lights, which honors fallen firefighters, will again come to the village of Homewood, officials said.

The parade is scheduled to enter the village at the intersection of Ridge Road and Halsted Street at about 8:15 p.m. Oct. 8.

The parade will then head west on Ridge Road and end at the Homewood Fire Station at 17950 S. Dixie
Highway.

This will be the third year for the Homewood Fire Department’s participation with the South Holland and other area fire departments in a silent, lights-only parade to honor all fallen firefighters who have given their lives in service to their communities.

The Homewood Fire Department lost a firefighter when Brian Carey died during a house fire in 2010.
