Three people were hospitalized and a Glenwood woman was charged with DUI after her motorcycle struck another Saturday in Momence during a group ride.
Francine Gajewski, 45, was charged with DUI and ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, and violation of classification for not having a motorcycle endorsement, according to Illinois State Police.
Gajewski and the driver of the second motorcycle were hospitalized at St. Mary’s Hospital in Streator, while the passenger of the second motorcycle, a 44-year-old Homewood woman, was hospitalized at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, police said.
Gajewski was driving a 2007 Harley-Davidson when she struck the rear of a 2013 Harley-Davidson ridden by a Chicago Heights man while riding in a group traveling south on Route 1/17 at Kankakee County Road 5600 North about 4:15 p.m. Saturday, police said.
The cause of the crash was improper lane usage, police said. None of the injured riders was wearing a helmet.
