Hillcrest High School senior and advanced-placement studio art student Matthew Sanders recently won the village of Hazel Crest vehicle sticker contest.

The winning entry will be displayed on the vehicles of Hazel Crest residents next year.

Sanders is an avid artist and has taken three years of art at Hillcrest, which is in Country Club Hills.

Sanders recently was awarded scholarships and was accepted into the Illinois Institute of Art. He will submit his AP studio art 2-D design portfolio in May to the College Board.
