Here is a look at what Southlanders in the SouthtownStar’s East region are accomplishing in college.
News includes Chicago Heights, Homewood, Crete, Flossmoor, Park Forest, Lansing, Matteson, Glenwood, Calumet City, Sauk Village, Richton Park, Monee and Olympia Fields.
Leslieann Harris, of Chicago Heights, was named to the spring dean’s list at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill.
Harris is a graduate of Bloom High School in Chicago Heights.
Jordan Daley, of Homewood, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
Several area students were named to the spring term dean’s list at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill. They include:
Chicago Heights — Elizabeth Perez.
Crete — Chandler Todd and Amanda Tucker.
Flossmoor — Rabia Jawed and Caitlin Lawler.
Homewood — Brandon Metoyer.
Park Forest — Amy Okichich.
■ Jennifer Farlow and Matthew Schaeflein, both of Lansing, graduated cum laude and received bachelor’s degrees from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis.
■ Several area student were named to the spring semester dean’s list at Carthage College. They include:
Crete — William C. Craft and Ethan Kirner.
Lansing — Matthew Karl Schaeflein.
Matteson — Benjamin Simington.
Iowa State University
Samantha Jo Goodwin, of Homewood, received a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
Winston Pennington-Flax, of Crete, received a bachelor’s degree from Beloit College in Beloit, Wis.
University of Wisconsin-Green Bay
Alonso Flores, of Glenwood, received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
University of Iowa
■ Lauren-Ashley Buchanan, of Matteson, received a master’s degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
■ Oluwole A. Akintayo, of Calumet City, received a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Iowa.
St. Anselm College
Emma Paelow-Fanning, of Homewood, was appointed a 2013-14 Kevin Harrington student ambassador at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics & Political Library at St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H.
American International College
Antwan Bluster, of Sauk Village, was admitted to American International College in Springfield, Mass.
University of St. Francis
Several area students are enrolled at the University of St. Francis in Joliet. They include:
