Kelly nominates 20 for military academies

U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Matteson, recently announced that she has nominated 20 young men and women from her congressional district to U.S. military academies, according to a press release from her office.

Nominees Megan Dunlavy and Meagan McDonough, seniors at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, already have been accepted to the Naval Academy at Annapolis, while Trent Wiltshire, of Manteno High School, received notification of acceptance to the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.

“Each of these outstanding young men and women possesses the intelligence and character to help build a new generation of military leadership. I am proud of their willingness to serve and sacrifice for our country. I have no doubt that our nation will benefit immeasurably from their talent and vision,” Kelly said in the release.
