Registration is underway for the abuser-intervention 20-hour training offered by South Suburban Family Shelter, according to a release from the shelter.
The training will take place from June 18 to 20 at the shelter’s training center, 18139 Harwood, Homewood.
Completion of the training is required, and the training is designed for those interested in working with domestic violence offenders or for professionals in the field, the release said. Participants can expect to learn best practices in co-facilitation of offender groups and the role of a facilitator, it said.
South Suburban Family Shelter is recognized as a 20-hour training site by the Illinois Department of Human Services and the Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional Board, the release said.
SSFS is a licensed continuing education unit (CEU) sponsor for social work, counseling, ICDVP and CPAIP. Twenty CEUs will be offered, according to the release.
The cost of the training is $125. Group discounts may be available.
Registration will be accepted until June 6 and is available by visiting www.ssfs1.org and clicking on “Abuser Intervention Facilitator 20-Hour Training.” Officials recommend registering early, as space is limited, the release said.
