Park Forest school honors volunteers

Algonquin Primary Center in Park Forest recently honored 33 volunteers for the 307 hours they have given to the school this school year.

Principal Caletha White singled out top volunteers Kim Simmons (40 hours), Isola Wilson (35 hours) and Ann Mills (32 hours). All three women have grandchildren who are Algonquin students.

White also recognized Bob Brown, who recruited members of his church, Calvary United Protestant Church, to serve as volunteers.

Other honored volunteers included Adrianna Burrage, June Carlton, Lakeesha Douglas, Sasha Drummonds, Myrna Herndon, Mimi Housinger, Ida Hey, Bernice Jonson, Margurite Martin, Catherine Mathews, Cody McCray and Jessica Nicks.

Other honorees included John Oakes, Mary Schamber, Sandy Spann, Sharon Tyms, Ron Bartosh, Barbara Davis, the Rev. Dudley Elvery, Jeneice Guy, Rita Holder, the Rev. Richard Reaves and Phil Hey.

Honored volunteers also included Vernell Johnson, Ann Mills, Allison McCray, Gavella Norment, Qia Oakes, Angela Simmons, Siobhan Smith and Marilyn Taylor.
