Illinois School in Park Forest was among 70 schools invited to participate in Tech 2012 Student for the Information Age.
Illinois School fifth-grade student Myles Jenkins and sixth grade-student William Wells II attended the event in Springfield with Carol Gockman, learning technology specialist, and teacher Stephanie Healy.
The students spoke with public and elected officials about how technology is used in the classroom to improve student achievement. The students’ demonstration showed how Skype allows students to inexpensively connect with other students around the world.
“The educational impact of the event is tremendous,” Gockman said. “The conference raises awareness of the critical role technology plays in preparing students to succeed in today’s world.”
