MOKENA

Park district to host Barn Fest

The Mokena Community Park District will host its annual Farm and Barn Fest from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at Yunker Farm, 10824 S. LaPorte Road.

Events will include sheep shearing, a baby contest, horse rides, a petting zoo, games, line dancing, raffles and more. The entry fee is $3 for adults age 21 and older and free for children.

MATTESON

District 227 to host parenting event

Rich Township High School District 227 will host a “Parenting in the 21st Century” conference from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Matteson Holiday Inn, 500 Holiday Plaza Drive.

The free event will include speakers and educators who will discuss how to encourage parent-teacher and parent-child relationships. The conference is free for parents of students in districts 227, 159, 160, 162 and 163.

CHICAGO

Bank to host homebuyer class

Marquette Bank, 6316 S. Western Ave., Chicago, will host a free Homebuyer Education Course from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Aug. 25.

The two-day course will help participants determine an affordable home price and anticipate what to expect when it’s time to close. After completing the course, participants will earn a certificate.
