Here is a look at what Southlanders are accomplishing in college.

News from the SouthtownStar’s East region includes Beecher, Flossmoor, Crete, Monee, Country Club Hills, Chicago Heights, Richton Park, Matteson, Flossmoor, South Chicago Heights, Homewood, Harvey and Hazel Crest.

Lewis University

Several area students have been named to the spring 2012 semester dean’s list at Lewis University in Romeoville.

Beecher — Lindsey Darling

Flossmoor — Melissa Farmer

Crete — Amanda Solorio

Monee — Maxwell Gerdes

Country Club Hills — Ross Reed

Chicago Heights — Bianca Valdez

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire

Dennis Beale, of Richton Park, has received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Southeast Missouri State University

Eugene Pate, of Matteson, has received the Foundation Leader Award to attend Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Pate is a 2012 graduate of Rich South High School in Richton Park.

Denison University

Gina Babinec, of Flossmoor, has been awarded the Denison Founders Scholarship. Babinec is a student at Denison University in Granville, Ohio.

Illinois College

Jacob Tilton, of South Chicago Heights; and Lacey Wilson, of Crete; have each been named to the spring 2012 semester dean’s list at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill.

University of Iowa

Kassidy Kleinow, of Homewood, has been admitted to the honors program at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

University of Missouri

Briana Lynch, of Homewood, has been named to the spring 2012 semester dean’s list at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo.

University of St. Francis

Several area students have received a master’s degree from the University of St. Francis in Joliet.
