A Park Forest man has been charged with murder for shooting to death a Chicago Heights man during an argument about a rental property, Chicago Heights police said.
Dennis Joyner, 60, is charged with first-degree murder, and a bond hearing will be held Thursday morning at the Cook County Courthouse in Markham.
Police said Joyner shot Robert Fortson, 40, several times about 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Mobil gas station, 431 W. 14th St., Chicago Heights.
Fortson, of Chicago Heights, and Joyner were arguing over a rental property that Joyner owned, Fortson ran from the station and Joyner fired several shots into him outside the station, according to police.
Fortson was taken to St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights where he was pronounced dead, and Joyner was arrested at the gas station, where he had remained, waiting for police, authorities said.
