Items include Rich South High School’s volleyball team digging pink, a dentistry program, and a Rich South alumnus joining the Apple College Internship Program.
Rich South volleyball team digs pink
Members of the Rich South High School volleyball team recently participated in the Dig Pink Tour, a breast cancer awareness event at Bloom High School.
Both teams wore pink tees, pink ribbons and other pink attire to support breast cancer awareness. October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Dentistry program visits District 227
The SMILE Mobile Dentistry Program recently visited Rich East and Rich South high schools. Nurses Eileen Caddigan, Arrie Christian and Sheila Allen-Stokes helped facilitate the program.
At Rich East, 641 students signed up to receive free dental screening exams, and 400 students signed up at Rich South.
The SMILE Mobile will visit Rich Central High School as one of its upcoming stops.

Rich South alumnus joins Apple Team
Rich South High School alumnus Lavell Brown was accepted to the Apple College Internship Program in conjunction with Disney Worldwide Services.
Brown, a freshman at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, will work and learn beside Apple’s team of business professionals and engineers.
Brown is one of several hundred students chosen from a pool of 17,000. The paid internship will be offered at the Orlando, Fla. campus and will provide interns with basic training skills and, if successfully completed, a professional opportunity with either Disney or Apple.
