Marian speech team takes first place

Marian Catholic High School’s speech team took first place recently at the Tree Tournament.
“The Marian speech team dominated the tournament because of strong focus and preparation,” head coach Mark Donaway said.
Leading team members included Tiffany Pia Lyander, of Hazel Crest, who placed first in dramatic interpretation and humorous interpretation; Cristen Milliner, of Richton Park, who placed first in impromptu speaking and fifth in informative speaking; and Regina Hoyles, of Olympia Fields, who placed first in original comedy and third in informative speaking.
Other members included Jasmine Jackson, of Country Club Hills, who placed first in special occasion speaking; Kyliah Thompson, of Richton Park, who placed second in oratorical declamation and sixth in prose reading; and Hannah Lang, of Monee, who placed third in poetry reading.
Other speech team members included Emerson Pavur, of Monee, who placed third in prose reading; Daniel Blewitt, of Crete, and Kyle Fitzgerald, of Park Forest, who placed fourth in dramatic duet acting; and Scott Mlcoch, of Munster, Ind., who placed fourth in extemporaneous speaking.
Members also included Laura Hilger, of Oak Forest, who placed fifth in dramatic interpretation; Marcus Webster, of Hazel Crest, who placed fifth in extemporaneous speaking; and Desiree McCray, of Country Club Hills, who placed fifth in poetry reading.
Other members included Lexi Humphrey, of Chicago Heights, who placed sixth in prose reading; Megan Ringo, of Crete, who placed sixth in radio reading; and finalist Jasmin Weaver, of Calumet City.
