Developmental kindergarten teacher Audra Rockett’s class at Neil Armstrong School in Richton Park worked on a school-wide project with the South Suburban Humane Society, which is based in Chicago Heights.

The project consisted of a school donation drive for the animals at the humane society.

The four classes with the most donations received an assembly from the humane society.

During the assembly, the students met a cat from the humane society.

They also learned about what to do when they see a stray animal and how to take care of pets.

The classes that donated the most items were led by Cecilia Carlton, Samantha Owens, Lori Renaldi and Rockett.

The school collected a total of 285 items to be donated.
