Motorcyclists, bicyclists and walkers can participate in a benefit for the Thorn Creek Nature Preserve, 247 Monee Road, Park Forest, from noon to 4 p.m. May 11.
Bike and Hike is in memory of Joe Hanes and his wife, Alice, who were early supporters of Thorn Creek Woods and longtime members of the BMW Club.
Friends and family have donated $1,500 in honor of Hanes to the Thorn Creek Capital Fund. The money was used to build the new hiking bridge in the preserve.
Bike and Hike is cosponsored by Friends of Thorn Creek Woods, Chicago Region BMW Motorcycle Owners Association, Park Forest Environment Commission and the Garden Club of Park Forest.
The benefit will include a tour of the Nature Center, homemade soups and a two-mile naturalist-led hike. The suggested donation is $20. Registration is due Thursday at (708) 747-6320 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
