Richton Park police plan annual night out

Updated: September 5, 2013 6:10AM

The Richton Park Police Department, in cooperation with the Homeowners Association, will participate in the 30th annual National Night Out on Aug. 6.

The police department’s main program will be 6 p.m. to sunset at Glaeser Park, Poplar Avenue and
Rockingham Road.

Activities include archery and other games, book bag give away, prizes, face painting, free food and fireworks.

Police are asking residents to turn on porch lights, lock doors and go outside to get to know their neighbors.

The purpose of National Night Out is to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for anticrime programs and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, according to police.
