Hazel Crest: The Hazel Crest Mustangs will hold cheerleading tryouts for the 2013 football season, open to kids ages 6 to 14 (not in high school), every Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Hazel Crest Park District, 2600 W. 171st St. Coaches are also needed. Southland: GILLS Swim Club will hold registration for the winter season, open to boys and girls ages 5 to 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 27 at Andrew High School, 9001 W. 171st St., Tinley Park. Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards (one length of the pool) unassisted. The winter season runs from September to February. Homewood: The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District will offer a variety of volleyball programs in the fall. Men’s Drop-In Volleyball is open to men 19 and older and held from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Sept. 4 at the H-F Sports Complex. Fee: $5 per session. Co-Rec Volleyball is held from 7 to 10 p.m. Fridays from Sept. 6 to Feb. 21 at the H-F Sports Complex and is open to adults 19 and older. Fee: $268 per team for residents, $368 for nonresidents. Women’s Volleyball, for ages 19 and up, will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays from Sept. 9 to Dec. 16 at Parker Junior High. Sign up as a team or individually and be placed on a team. Southland: The Mokena Park District will host four adult indoor coed volleyball leagues in the fall, beginning Sept. 9. The A-League (competitive) will play on Monday nights, the B-League (upper-intermediate) and C-League (lower-intermediate) on Tuesday nights and the D-League (recreational) on Wednesday nights. Matches will be played from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. at the Oaks Recreation and Fitness Center, 10847 W. LaPorte Roadd. Team rosters must consist of between six and 12 players.
