More than 100 people joined AT&T recently at Governors State University in University Park to attend an It Can Wait texting and driving event at which students could experience, firsthand, the dangers of texting and driving through the use of an AT&T wheel and pedal simulator.
GSU President Elaine P. Maimon welcomed participants, which included several local public officials, GSU students and AT&T representatives.
Maimon, AT&T and local public officials urged the students and adults in the audience to never text and drive, and instructed attendees to go to the itcanwait.com website and take the pledge to never text and drive again.
Approximately 375 students took the pledge to never text and drive again.
