Richton Park library unveils January events lineup

The Richton Park Public Library, 4045 Sauk Trail, will host a series of events in January.

Twitter 101 will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Jan. 6. Participants will take a look at what Twitter is, how to create an account, and will go step by step through the account and privacy settings. Registration is required.

The Young @Heart Book Club will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 7. This group is for adults who find themselves in the teen section more than the adult section. Each month, club members will read a different novel over light refreshments. This month’s book is “The 5th Wave” by Rick Yancey and is available at the front desk. Registration is required.

Night Knitting will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 8. Participants will join other knitters, crocheters and fiber art enthusiasts to learn more about the hobby or will help others learn new skills. No registration is required.

Crafting 101: Crochet will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 9. Attendees should bring a hook (size J or K) and a skein of yarn. There is a limit of 10 people per class. Registration is required.

On Jan. 10, a black book discussion for adults will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Call the library for this month’s book. Copies are available at the circulation desk. Registration is required.

The Book and Movie Book Club will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 11. Each month, participants will read a different book and watch the movie based on it. Popcorn is available. Sack lunches are allowed. This month’s book is “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Copies are available at the circulation desk.

The Comic Book Club will meet from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 11 to discuss, read and recommend graphic novels based on a monthly theme. The first meeting will have a general theme. Attendees should bring a favorite comic to recommend it to others. Registration is required.
