Midlothian Park District commissioner Chuck Granata recently was presented with two plaques honoring his 20 years on the Midlothian Park District Board of Commissioners.

One plaque was awarded by the Illinois Association of Park Districts, and the other was a recognition plaque from the Midlothian Park District.

Granata has served on the park board since 1991. He was elected to the board after serving several years on the Midlothian Park District Advisory Board.

During his time on the park board, Granata has served as vice president, secretary and chairman of the Maintenance, Safety and Security Committee.

During his tenure, Granata has helped to plan and oversee the redevelopment of all seven parks, program improvements and staff development.

Granata and his wife Karen have raised their four children in Midlothian. Besides the 20 years of volunteer service on the park board, he has volunteered for youth T-ball, baseball and softball.
