St. Christopher scholarship fund celebrates anniversary

Updated: March 20, 2012 8:02AM

The St. Christopher School Joanne Slovey Scholarship Fund recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of its launch, which occurred during Catholic Schools Week in January.

The purpose of the fund is to provide tuition assistance scholarships to St. Christopher School families with demonstrated financial need.

The fund is named after longtime St. Christopher School secretary Joanne Slovey, who retired in 2010 after 32 years of service.

The fund has raised more than $18,000 in its first year of operation and provided tuition assistance scholarship to 36 students, school officials said.

“We are blessed to have such a wonderful network of alumni and friends of our school who are so supportive of the school,” said principal Michael Johnson. “Here at St. Christopher, we are committed to ensuring that our school is affordable to students of all economic backgrounds.”
