AMC Theatres’ Oscars showcase of best-picture nominees

A two-day event will offer the chance for Southlanders to see some of the best films of the past year.
AMC Theatre’s Best Picture Showcase will feature all nine 2012 Oscar nominees on the big screen.
“Catch up on all the best picture nominees just in time for the Academy Awards,” officials said.
“For each day you attend the event, you’ll get a $5 AMC gift card for concessions.
“Plus, enjoy a free theater-size commemorative poster with artwork from the nine nominees, so you can always remember the event.
On Feb. 18, a one-day pass costs $30 and features four films: “War Horse,” “Moneyball,” “The Tree of Life” and “The Descendants.
On Feb. 25, a one-day pass costs $40 for five films: “Hugo,” “The Help,” “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close,” “The Artist” and “Midnight in Paris.”
Moviegoers who purchase a two-day pass will save $10 on the total cost.
Participating locations include AMC Loews Crestwood 18, 13221 Rivercrest Drive, and AMC Showplace New Lenox 14, 1320 W. Maple St.
The 84th Academy Awards will air live at 6 p.m. Feb. 26 on ABC-TV (Channel 7).
