The Midlothian Park District recently presented diplomas to 11 children who attended the district’s preschool program for 4-year-olds.

Under the direction of teacher Terry Knapp and teacher aide Alyssa Lappin, the children spent the year learning things to prepare them for kindergarten. Some highlights of the year were the hatching of baby chicks and butterflies; learning about healthy bodies with the Organ Guys; and mastering the alphabet, weather, and addition and subtraction.

The graduates were joined by their parents, siblings, grandparents and friends during the diploma ceremony. Students performed a song and a poem, and shared what they want to be when they grow up.
