An employee at a liquor store prevented an armed robbery June 4, police said.
The worker told police he was standing with his brother outside Eddy’s Tobacco and Liquor, 6072 W. 159th St., Oak Forest, at 9:30 p.m., when a red van backed into a parking space near the store.
The driver got out with his face partly covered with a handkerchief, grabbed the victim and told him to enter the store, police said.
They said the driver lifted his shirt, revealing a gun tucked in his waistband.
The worker grabbed the man’s arm and yelled to his brother to “grab the gun,” but the man broke free, jumped in the van and drove off eastbound on 159th Street, police said.
