St. Christopher School in Midlothian recently hosted its second annual 5K Walk-Run. Nearly 300 walkers and runners participated.
After a prayer from the Rev. Mark Walter and a rendition of the national anthem by the St. Christopher Church choir, Midlothian Mayor Terry Stephens fired the starter’s gun to begin the race.
The overall male winner was Anthony Burbott, of Midlothian, in a time of 18:09.6. The overall female winner was Amy Blumstein, of Homewood, in 24:25.9.
After the event, about 50 children participated in the Kids Dash. All participants received a medal.
After the events, people stayed for food, music and children’s entertainment.
“A big thanks goes to everyone who participated in this wonderful event,” Principal Michael Johnson said. “The family spirit of our school community was wonderful to witness.
“I look forward to next year’s walk-run being bigger and better than ever.”
