Austin Farmer turns 12 on 12/12/12, the last consecutive date series this century.
He plans to start his golden birthday Wednesday with 12 of his favorite things.
Pizza, Skittles, bacon, pancakes, to name a few.
If he survives that, there will be a celebratory dinner at Dave & Buster’s restaurant in Orland Park.
Twelve guests.
“It’s a lucky day,” Austin said, even if his mom, Lisa Farmer, did intentionally choose it 12 years ago when doctors gave her a choice of dates for a Caesarian section.
“I thought it would be super cool for him to one day have a 12/12/12 birthday,” Lisa Farmer said.
The Homewood boy also has a friend party planned for Saturday, complete with 12 games, S’mores and, if the weather holds, horses. He’s invited 50 kids.
“A lot of kids have been asking me what I want for my birthday,” he said. In addition to XBox, Austin likes reading the “Goosebumps” series and playing hockey.
His mom says Austin will receive a dozen gifts from his parents, 11 small ones and one big one.
A good student, Austin has the highest reading grade in his class, his mom said.
“And I’m getting a A in math,” said the boy who hopes to become a lawyer one day.
Lisa Farmer runs a home day care. Austin’s dad, Daryl, guards juveniles at the Cook County Jail.
Austin is the youngest of three children. His older sister, Symone, is a student at the University of Iowa. His brother, Blair, turns 15 Saturday.
“December is a good month for us,” Lisa Farmer said.
Austin agreed. “Because after my birthday comes Christmas.”
