Oak Forest coaches honored

Oak Forest High School activity and sports coaches were recently recognized at the annual recognition breakfast hosted by Activities Director Savka Mladenovich and Athletic Director Ron Towner.
Special awards were given to Lorrie Campea and Dawn Sasek for their long-term coaching commitments. Lorrie Campea has coached girls golf for 26 years and retired from coaching on a high note with success at the South Suburban conference meet. Dawn Sasek has coached badminton for 20 years. Both Campea and Sasek earned plaques for their achievements.
Also honored were coaches or sponsors who had sponsored the same activity or sport: Kristy Collins and Cheryl Harris for The Vedas student newspaper; Lynn Galloway for freshman class sponsor; Nanci Kopecky for junior class sponsor; Katherine Picht for FACS Club sponsor; Nick Rojek for band sponsor; John Stevens for head play director; Ken Valiska for Operation Snowball sponsor; and Carolyn Urban, girls diving coach.
Also recognized were athletic or activity coaches whose teams won a conference championship last year. Gary Andruch (boys cross country), Amanda Brown (girls volleyball), Katy Dammer (softball), Christine DiVenti (cheerleading), Thad Gatton (baseball) and Sue Poncin (mathletes).
